Pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela

Are the refuges, hostels and hotels from Santiago to Finisterre/Muxia likely to be open over Christmas and New Year? Are the addresses and phone numbers listed somewhere on this site or elsewhere on the net?
We are walking from Santiago - Finisterre - Muxia - Santiago from 22nd December till 2nd January.

At least in Finisterre the albergue is opened in New Year.

Hi Aeveling,

Yes most of teh refuges are open in winter, but even if closed you will find small "pensions" in Negreira, Olveiroa, and Finisterra. So you wont be stuck anyway!

PS: Tip, try to stay overnight in the Fisterra's light house! ok it is a 2* hotel and not a refuge, but the experience is unique!

Thanks Pepe.
We are arriving in Santiago on 22nd December and start walking to Negreira on the 23rd, exactly 4 weeks from today so all information is gratefully received. We are experienced winter
mountain/ long distance walkers but still enjoy home comforts and will probably stay in hostels/hotels rather than albergues which may be too cold for wet, cold walkers! We will be walking back to Santiago for the New Year festivities.

I will check out accommodation in the lighthouse - sounds great.

In addition I have recently walked for 8 days on the Via de la Plata, from Monasterio to Caceres. I will soon post here and add links to my first blog.
It will be my first opportunity to add something to this forum!

One caveat: on holidays the opening times at all the albergues are very open to interpretation! For instance: Last year the big albergue in Sahagun was closed Christmas eve, open Christmas day, closed on New Year´s eve and day, and closed again on Tres Reyes. The guidebooks and signs on the doors all say it is open all year ´round. Just don´t believe it.
