From Saturday June 28 until July 13 you can take part in the Best tapas in Santiago de Compostela competition
Over 45 establishments - divided by different routes - will take part. To encourage the participation of Compostela and tourists, Santiago Tourism will launch the "Santiago Tapasporte 'Compostela Tapas' a 'credencial' which you can have stamped at all the participating places you sample the tapas. You can vote for Best Traditional Tapa and the best Creative Tapa.

This sounds like great fun - shame I won't be there to join in!

In my opinion, the best tapas bar in Santiago is Bispo in Rua Franco. It was recommended to me by the staff at the pension I stayed in. I tried several others but always ended up back there. Very lively with a great selection of tapas and raciones. Only criticism would be the cigarrette smoke but its not too bad if you sit near the door. Sadly being kippered is still all too common in Spanish bars and restaurants!

The other place that was recommended was El Gato Negro in a little alley behind Rua Franco but unfortunately it was closed every time I tried to go in.

To anyone who able to attend this event, Buen Aproveche and Salud!
