Long weekend in Spain

General discussion on the town of Santiago de Compostela

Long weekend in Spain

Postby ivar on 01 May 2008, 20:50

Hi all,

I just came back from a trip into Santiago, and it was packed with people. Since May 1st is a day off, many take Friday off as well and make a long weekend out of it. They had a 18km traffic jam out of Madrid earlier today (direction Galicia) so I bet there are many visitors from Madrid in Santiago this weekend.

This weekend Santiago also has a lot of entertainment, I saw gaitas (Galicia bag pipes) playing in the streets and folk dance in the squares. The Alameda park had a tivoli (Paris wheel ++ ).

I am on my way to Salamanca tomorrow morning, back Sunday... looking forward since I have never visited that town.

Saludos,
Ivar
