new route?

Postby PEREGRINO BLANCO on 22 Oct 2007, 11:47

Yesterday I returned from Santiago. I flew out of A curruna. To get to the airport I caught the train and noticed that a great deal of work is being done to upgrade the line. Some of the old line has been bypassed and the rest has a haul route nearby. I wondered if anyone had given any thought to an alternative Camino
along these works after the railway rebuilding has finished,in the same way as sustrans laid out paths in the uk. along old railway lines in 2000?

http://www.viasverdes.com/ is the appropriate organisation

There are a couple of sections in other countries that have been incorporated in Jacobean routes, but I can't offhand think of any in Spain. Jacobean routes tend to follow (roughly) historical roads, which railway lines are not ;-)
