Xunta proposes moving bus station to new train station

Postby Peter Robins on 20 Dec 2005, 12:51

According to today's Correo Gallego
http://www.elcorreogallego.es/index.php ... 4&Itemid=6
the Xunta is proposing closing the existing bus station and moving it to the new railway station (a bit to the west of the existing one, AIUI) when the high-speed connection is complete.

Don't hold your breath, but a good move IMO, as the fact that bus and train stations are currently in completely different parts of the city is one of the big inconveniences of Santiago.

I agree with you Peter, this would be a good move and make travel with the bus a lot easier. The train station is within walking distance of old town... the current bus station is more of a "hike".

..but I am afraid it will still take a few years until this is reality.

more on this in today's Voz de Galicia. Plans for new station should be finalised this month. Work should be completed by Holy Year 2010.
