Vueling and Clickair to merge

Postby Peter Robins on 08 Jul 2008, 17:22

Not news from Santiago, but may be relevant to those flying to Galicia.
Subject to anti-trust approval; under the Vueling name, but with Iberia as the largest shareholder

If it goes ahead, it will be interesting to see whether/which routes are axed.

I heard this last night... and not sure if this is good news. Iberia now has practically monopoly on Santiago - Barcelona and Santiago - Madrid... :?

presumably the anti-trust people will be looking into that. From October you can fly Ryanair to Reus - not quite Barcelona, but close ;-) Increasingly, both Ryanair and easyJet are flying domestic routes in Spain. And then there's always the AVE - in 2012 or whenever it is . . .

I see from a report today they're now talking of 2015 for the completion of the section to Orense
