Heritage Information System for Santiago

Postby Peter Robins on 11 Jan 2008, 19:56

El Correo Gallego reports on a new €3.3m project to create a Heritage Information System for Santiago by 2010, including digital simulations of how the city looked at various times in its history. This will involve gathering data from historical records and from physical surveys of the interior of the 2,600 historic buildings in the city centre; "we hope that proprietors will co-operate". Once completed for Santiago, the plan is to do the same for other cities. The article says this is a world first for Santiago!

Can't see anything in the report about whether this will be available in specific places only or publicly available on the web.
