no, they haven't announced it yet. Nor is there anything from Ryanair yet on their flights to Santiago. These are press reports of agreements signed between the companies and the Galician government, who are underwriting the costs.

easyJet to Asturias/Oviedo

Postby PR on 09 Feb 2005, 15:46

easyJet have just announced flights starting March 24 London Stansted to Asturias (aka Oviedo though it's close to Aviles, and afaics the only airport bus goes to Gijon not Oviedo)
http://www.easyjet.com/EN/News/20050209_01.html

Quite where that leaves the flights that A Coruna announced ??

I have not heard anything in Santiago about EasyJet, not coming. But, everything so that has been reported in the Galician press has been things mentioned by the local politicians here. Nothing official from EasyJet as far as I know.

I guess we will just have to wait and see
.. and cross our finger that things work out.

Greetings from Santiago,

easyJet have abandoned plans for flights to Corunna, for the moment at least, according to today's Voz de Galicia http://www.lavozdegalicia.es/ed_corunia ... TO=3473341

Perhaps they were put off by Ryanair flying to Santiago: too close, and market too small to support both airlines, so they decided on Asturias instead. A pity, as it would have helped in promoting use of the Camino Ingles.

Thanks for the tip Peter, I was starting to get worried when nothing was announced.

I think your thinking is right; they do not want to step to close to RyanAir’s new flight. If RyanAir does very well in Santiago, I think they may re-think a Galician destination.
