I'm planning to cycle to Santiago from Seville on the Via de la Plata in March 07. Does anyone know a non autopista route from the airport to the city centre using secondary roads and avoiding the motorway? Does the airport bus use these - maybe I could just follow its route?

I've posted this question on cycling specific sites also but no specific information received yet!

Many thanks
John

John,

Sorry, no information on your question. But, I do have some questions for you, as I am considering the Plata next May. I biked the Frances this past May.
1. What biking sites have you used other than Bibicleta?
2. Where did you get good information about biking the Via de la Plata?

Thanks,

Larry

I have cycled the VdlP and it was difficult to find bike specific information on the route. The useful sites for information I could find I included in the Via del la Plata page of http://www.caminolinks.co.uk .

Salvador's Photos are good for bikers as are the maps on Mundicamino and the guide provided by the Amigos in Seville.

Buen Camino
William

Larry,
As William notes in his reply it is difficult to find specific bike information on the route but I've picked up useful information on the following

http://www.trentobike.org and go to postings of tours in Spain. Also have a look at http:home.vxu.se for an account of a trip on the VdeP and for good photos look at http://www.interam.com/viaplata/indexeng
For general info on bike touring http://www.bicycletouring101.com is worth a look.
Regards
John
