Calendar Test

Postby jeff001 on 05 Feb 2008, 20:26

I have made a stab at setting up a Google Calendar that might help keep track of when we will be on the Camino. You should be able to access it by going to mail.google.com, logging in with user name "caminocalendar" and password "peregrino" (no quotes). On the Gmail page click on Calendar in the upper left corner and you should be there. When you click on a date a window will open for your entry. For example, I have shown that I will start from Logrono on May 6. You can add as many dates as you wish.

Check it and see if it works for you.

Jeff,

Superior Idea!

I am now "officially logged in as to my projected start day and arrival in Santiago. A great asset for those of us in the Class of 2008!

Give it a try folks...I love one stop shopping!!!!

Awesome idea Jeff! Have fun walking from Logrono! I really enjoyed that part of my trip. :)

I'm posted. Anybody else? What a great idea so we know who is where. Helps to possibly connect with others. I will have my Santiago Today button on me.... same one I used last year on the CF>

How very cool Jeff! I have now put my expected arrival date in Le Puy (April 13th) and my expected start-of-walking from Le Puy date (April 15th) on the calendar!
update:
Ooooopppps.... got my dates wrong.... arrive Le Puy 12th and plan to leave 14th. (My brain was having a bit of anticipated jetlag.)
Interestingly, I made an enquiry about staying at the gite des Capucins in Le Puy for two nights, and they suggested I should reserve if I want, as they already have many people booked for April!

Me too - if predicted dates of arrival in Santiago coincide we should work out a way of meeting!

This is a great idea! i was thinking of adding something like this to the forum, but this is a much easier solution. When I have some time I will add the rss feed of this calendar to the forum, so that we can see "upcoming events".

Thanks guys!

This is very cool! And if you already use Gmail (as I do) you can simply add a calendar link to your personal calendar page and click on it to switch back and forth! Well done!

Buen Camino,

Thanks for this Deirdre. I am already signed up for Google for Blogger, so it was quick and simple to register for GMail.... then I worked out how to add this calendar. I see there are new people adding themselves all the time!

Hi Jeff (and Keith),
What a great idea!! but I can't seem to get my info onto the calendar. What is the site for the calendar log in? When I login it takes me to my own calendar (I can't see a space to put in the user name or the password. Keith suggested I read your instructions, which I did, but still, I just end up in my gmail with the camino calendar set up as one of my "other" calendars and any changes I make there do not appear the this website. :(
Thanks guys,

Have you tried using the link at the bottom of this page? The page it takes you to has the user name and password you need.

Jeff, Yes I have, but when I click on below the calendar to log in, it takes me straight to my own calendars in my gmail, so I don't have to enter a username or password.

Hi Clarisa,
The same thing happened to me because I use Gmail as well. First, go to the upper right hand corner and "sign out"... it will take you to the "sign in" page (if I recall correctly) then re-sign in with "Camino Calendar' and the peregrino password. That opens the camino calendar. Then I think went back and reopened my own calendar in another window. On my own calendar, I clicked ADD, then Add Friends Calendar. When the popup box opens, type in caminocalendar@gmail.com and I believe it will add to your personal calendar.

I know I had to play with it a little to figure out how to add it. BUt I see that you have added your name to the camino calendar - you want to do that in reverse... add the camino calendar name to your personal calendar.
Good luck,
Buen Camino

Hi Deirdre,

Thanks for that! I finally got it! Still a little confusing though as I noticed the camino calendar site got a note from me that I want to share my own calendar! I hope I have cleared that now!

But most importantly!....wow you are off tomorrow, lucky you! and I wish you all the best Y UN BUEN CAMINO!
