Check your SPAM folder

Postby sillydoll on 07 Apr 2007, 17:12

I have a gmail account.
Ever since I joined this Forum, notices of topic replies and private messages have come through my inbox. Today I noticed that although there have been a lot of topic replies, I haven't had any notices in my inbox. Then I checked my SPAM folder which had over 1 000 items in it and there were the forum notices.
I don't know why Google has suddenly decided that these are SPAM and I will look into it.
I just thought, if any other members have the same problem with notices not coming through, check your SPAM folder.

...good point Sil. And I guess this is a good moment to also remind everyone that you can actually turn off these e-mails if you don't want them (instead of clicking your "this is spam" button).

You can do this here:
profile.php?mode=editprofile

... remember to save your changes by clicking "Submit" towards the bottom.

Greetings from sunny and 24c in the shade Santiago,
Ivar

I had something weird happen yesterday too. I clicked on a link to the forum from an email & all of a sudden, my browser kept opening up windows, up to 30 different times. I had to shut my computer down to get it to stop.

It sounds like you have some kind of spyware on your computer. But if anyone else has a similar problem related to the forum, please let me know.

Un saludo,

Spam folders

Postby sillydoll on 08 Apr 2007, 16:02

I read through all the 'Help' links on Google Mail and discovered that I had to add the Ivar@gmail address to my contacts so that his notices will go into my inbox. I am now getting notices in my inbox again.

For the last 2 days every time I tried to get onto the Forum I got server not availble. I assumed it was a problem at the other end or too many people trying to get on. All my other email, web sites were fine.

Yes, this is most likely the site and not a problem on your end. I have decided to move to a faster server, but I want to wait until later in the year since moving the site now would mean several days (maybe a week) where the site would be down.

So I hope we can "hang in there" with the way it works now and then we will fix it later in the year.

It has gotten a bit better lately though, hasn't it? A few weeks ago I saw this error once or twice every day, now it has been a while....

Un saludo,
Ivar
